General Information

Dragons are a quite intelligent species, some say more intelligent than humans. While fierce and dangerous, they usually do not attack unless provoked. Their scales are impervious to any conventional weapons, though an arrow down their maw might bring one down.

They are noble creatures, and worship the Creator in their own way. Not much is known about their faith, but they seem to know Kep personally, as if they met with Him and discussed matters of import with Him.

While their scales, blood, claws, and bones are useful in the creation of magical weapons and armor, it is forbidden to kill one of them except in self defense, and all dragon slaying must be reported to the king. The dragons will bear their dead off to entomb them as they see fit.

While wizards draw magic from their surroundings, dragons are innately magical. Each breed has their own magical breath. These breaths, when combined, can create amazing magical items, and it is said that with enough combined breaths they can create Dragon Crystal, a substance harder than diamond, and indestructable by any means known.

red dragon

The red dragon is the most common of all dragons, and much artwork has been done of these. Their breath is an inferno, their scales bright red. The current king of the dragons, Grrathnak, is a red dragon with scars across his back from a fight he had with his brother Tark.

His son, Prince Drathkalak, is also a red dragon, and one of Kyne's closest friends.

White dragon

The white dragon has soft blue-white wings. Their breath is ice. They are also quite common. The queen of dragons is a white dragon, as is her daughter, Sethanalia, who is also one of Kyne's close friends.

Blue dragon

The blue dragon has a breath of water. These dragons are quite at home underwater, and cannot drown. Gills behind their head aid in breathing, but they are just as comfortable out of the water as in, and can breathe either air, or glean oxygen from the water. They can communicate with fish and sea creatures, and they can focus their breath from a fine mist to a drowning flood, or a thin stream hard enough to cut through armor.

Green dragon

The green dragon gives forth a poisonous green gas, which can kill or render unconscious any creature within range. Their breath range is not far, about fifty feet, but one can only approach if they hold their breath. The dragon also can solidify their breath to such an extent that it clings like a foul coating on anything it touches. This is useful in making poison daggers and swords, as the attribute is permanent.

The wise old dragon Kass is a green dragon. This dragon actually was instrumental in signing the treaty contained on the magic signet ring the King of Lynvia wears.

black dragon

The black dragon's breath is acid. A dangerous and caustic substance, colored green, that will eat through armor in a matter of a minute. They take less than half a minute to recharge their breath, and the recommendation to an and all valiant knights is to use this respite to run.

Kark, king of Western Kraxoria, is the largest black dragon on record. His wingspan is fully fifty feet, a giant and dangerous monster. This dragon has no love for humans, and it is only out of respect for his brother and a cavalier adherence to the letter of the treaty that prevents him from leading his dragons in an attack.

yellow dragon

The yellow dragon's breath is electric in nature. This creature eats a certain type of boulder, which does not digest but is stored in a large pouch above the stomach. This pre-stomach not only assists the dragon in digesting food, but the friction of the rocks rubbing together charges up quite a powerful burst of electricity from the dragon's mouth, almost as powerful as a bolt of lightning. The dragon makes a humming noise as it cycles the rocks in its craw, charging another bolt. It takes less than fifteen seconds to charge.

silver dragon

Little is known about this rarest of dragons. There have been a few sightings by those watching Lake Claw from a distance, but there was nothing known about their breath until Prince Kyne accompanied one on a trek around the world. Their breath opens portals between worlds. Adept silver dragons can weaponize this ability by disposing of their enemies by way of a portal, or building one through an enemy, effectively slicing them in half.
